Capacity/Performance Engineer - Profiling Tools
Contract -
End of year, possible multi-year project.
The Capacity Engineering team is looking to build out the profiling capabilities internally to allow services to quickly debug performance issues and provide recommendations on improvements and cost reduction.
What will this person do?
- Build, develop, and mature profiling and optimization capabilities within the organization, ensuring that the Infrastructure maximizes value and reduces inefficiencies and overhead
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, SRE and Product teams to embed profiling capabilities
- Knowledge of profilers like Perf, PyPerf, Gprofiler, Java Async Profiler, Dynalog, etc.
- Proficiency in software development languages such as Python, C++, Java
- Understanding of system performance tools, libraries and issues
- Knowledge of queueing services like SQS/Kafka, timeseries database like Clickhouse
- Performance Engineering background, ability to debug performance issues and provide optimization recommendations
- Excellent skills in communicating complex technical issues
What skills are ideal but not required?
- Experience with large, cloud-native multi-tenant platforms at Internet scale
- Experience building or managing large observability build systems, platforms, and tools
- Experience working with both AWS instances as well as Kubernetes environments
